If you are asking yourself, “quartz, granite or marble: which countertop is best for my Plantation kitchen?“, the short answer is quartz. That’s what we recommend to homeowners in Plantation, Weston, Davie and across Broward County.
Quick Answer: Quartz is the best countertop for most kitchens in Plantation and the rest of Broward County, whatever your budget. It never needs sealing, it resists stains, and it’s what roughly 9 out of 10 new countertops we see in Broward and Miami-Dade kitchens are made of. If you want natural stone, choose granite. We don’t recommend marble for kitchens: it’s soft and stains easily.
Fresh Remodel designs and installs quartz countertops from our Plantation showroom, serving all of Broward County and North Miami-Dade. See the slabs in person or call (954) 859-5189.
You’re choosing a countertop. Quartz, granite and marble all look good in the showroom. The real question is which one still looks good after years of family dinners, morning coffee and the occasional spilled glass of wine, whether your home is in Plantation, Weston or Pembroke Pines.
We answer that question every week in our Plantation showroom, and our answer has become simple: quartz. Fresh Remodel is a family-owned, licensed and insured General Contractor (License #CGC-1506284). We design and install quartz countertops in Plantation homes and condos, and across all of Broward County and North Miami-Dade, under one roof. Every kitchen we’ve completed so far in 2026 went with quartz.

What Quartz Countertops Actually Are
When people say “quartz countertops,” they almost always mean engineered quartz. It’s made from crushed natural quartz bound with resin. The care guide we give every client puts it at about 93% quartz. That makes it hard, consistent from slab to slab, and non-porous.
Natural quartz stone also exists. It’s extremely hard, but it’s delicate and difficult to fabricate, and a slab can crack during cutting. You’ll rarely see it in a kitchen. In this article, “quartz” means engineered quartz, the product that dominates the market in Broward and Miami-Dade.
Why Quartz Is Our Top Pick for Plantation Kitchens
In our experience, engineered quartz makes up roughly 90% of the countertops going into kitchens in Plantation and the rest of Broward County today. There are good reasons for that.
Key Benefits of Quartz:
- No sealing, ever. Quartz is non-porous. Our care guide actually tells clients not to seal, wax or polish it.
- Stain resistant. Wine, coffee and oil wipe off with a damp cloth and mild soap.
- Scratch resistant. Quartz is one of the hardest minerals in nature.
- Hygienic. A non-porous surface can be cleaned thoroughly, which matters where you prep food.
- Consistent look. What you pick in the showroom is what gets installed, including marble-look patterns like Calacatta.
The honest trade-offs: Quartz costs more than standard granite. It can fade or discolor in a spot that gets strong afternoon sun through a window. Extreme heat can damage the resin, so use trivets under hot pans. And for the same sun reason, we use granite, not quartz, on outdoor kitchens.
Quartz vs Granite in Plantation, FL
Granite is the best choice if you want natural stone. It’s hard and dense, takes heat well, and every slab is one of a kind.
Key Benefits of Granite:
- Takes heat. It handles hot pans better than quartz.
- Many colors. From quiet whites to bold, veined slabs.
- Affordable at the standard level. Standard granite costs less than quartz.
- Works outdoors. Granite is our pick for outdoor kitchen countertops in Plantation, Davie and Weston backyards.
The honest trade-off: Granite needs sealing, about once or twice a year, per the care guide we give every client at closing. And price varies a lot. Exotic granite countertops can cost more than any quartz or marble. One rare granite from a small quarry in southern Italy runs about $10,000 a slab.

Marble Countertops: Why We Don’t Recommend Them for Kitchens
Marble is beautiful, but it’s a soft stone. In a kitchen, wine, oil, coffee and spices can stain it, and acids like lemon juice and vinegar can etch dull spots into the surface. You keep sealing it for as long as you own it, and sealer only slows staining.
Marble can work in a powder room or as a decorative piece. For a kitchen where a family cooks every day, quartz gives you the marble look without the upkeep. Watch our project manager explain it in our showroom:
“Marble is not really recommended for kitchens because it’s a soft material that may get stained very easily.”

A Pembroke Pines Kitchen with Granite Countertops
The Gonzalez family in Pembroke Pines started with white laminate counters and dated flat-panel cabinets. We gutted the old kitchen and started over: new cherry cabinets, a new island, pull-out drawers, a pantry, light beige granite countertops and a glass tile backsplash. When they couldn’t decide on colors, our designer Andrea helped them choose.

“They said they would be done in four weeks from start to finish, and it was totally done within four weeks. Little things that I didn’t notice, they noticed. I would give them a 10 out of 10.”

Frequently Asked Questions About Quartz, Granite and Marble Countertops
What is the best countertop for a Plantation kitchen?
For most kitchens, quartz. It never needs sealing, resists stains and scratches, and holds up to daily family cooking. If you want natural stone, granite is the next best choice.
Does quartz need sealing in Florida?
No. Engineered quartz is non-porous, so it never needs sealing, waxing or polishing. Clean it with a damp cloth and mild soap, and avoid bleach and abrasive cleaners.
Is quartz more expensive than granite?
Quartz costs more than standard granite. Exotic granite is a different story: rare slabs can cost more than any quartz, up to about $10,000 a slab. In our 2026 projects, fabrication and installation ran $38 per sq ft for either material. To estimate your full project, try our cost calculator.
Is marble good for kitchen countertops in Florida?
We don’t recommend it. Marble is a soft stone that stains from wine, oil and spices and etches from acids like lemon juice. It suits low-use areas better than a busy kitchen.
Can I use quartz in an outdoor kitchen in Plantation?
We recommend granite instead. Strong sun can fade quartz over time, while granite handles sun, rain and humidity well.
Does granite need sealing?
Yes. Our client care guide recommends sealing granite once or twice a year and cleaning it with a pH-neutral soap.
